The ChildRen First (CR1) Project - Ngongotaha Football Club

Supporting Children in Rotorua

Children in Rotorua face numerous challenges, including poverty, limited access to education, and fewer opportunities for personal development. Rotorua football can play a vital role in helping children build confidence, teamwork skills, and a sense of belonging.

Ngongotaha AFC’s CR1 Project addresses these challenges by providing a free football programme for children from low-income families. Through football, we aim to foster physical, mental, and educational development, giving every child a chance to thrive.

A Community Effort

Together with our community, we plan to create a brighter future for Rotorua’s children. This programme gives all young people the opportunity to get involved in football while learning valuable life skills that can set them up for a prosperous future.

We are extremely grateful to Aaron Lawrence and Trevor Johnston for helping to get this programme off the ground, and to the New Zealand Community Trust (NZCT) for their generous grant of $21,060 to support the project.
