Ngongotaha AFC – Football Club in Rotorua
Our Mission & Community
Ngongotaha AFC is Rotorua’s oldest football club, founded in 1966. We provide opportunities for everyone to play and are fully involved in the community, breaking down barriers to participation, including through our CR1 Project.
Teams for All Ages
We run football programs for all ages – from our youngest pre-schoolers in the 'Little Dribblers' program through all junior grades and senior teams. There is no such thing as too old – our oldest players are over 60. If you want to play football, we’ll do our best to provide a program that suits you.
Club Facilities
The club's home is at Tamarahi Reserve, Stembridge Road, Ngongotaha. We pay an annual fee to Rotorua Lakes Council to use the field and lease the clubhouse. The clubhouse includes changing rooms, toilets, storage on the ground floor, and a clubroom with a kitchen and bar upstairs. We own the building and manage all maintenance and operating costs.
We also use Jessie Martin Park and Rotorua Stadium #2 for training and some senior and U19 games. All junior games are played at Puarenga Park.
History & Achievements
Since our founding in 1966, Ngongotaha AFC has grown into a key part of Rotorua’s football community. The club competed in the Northern League from 1978 to 1994, reaching as high as the second division. Since 1994, we have consistently fielded multiple senior men’s and women’s teams, primarily competing in the Waikato-Bay of Plenty Federation Premiership.
Highlights include:
-
2011: Championship winners and promotion to the Premiership
